Remote working in snowy conditions

According to the MET Office, some parts of our region could see some sleet and snow fall around rush hour this evening with severe weather warnings in place for the country.

As with every UK snow prediction whether it will actually result in snow remains to be seen, but every Winter the UK’s lack of preparation leads to chaos on the transport network, with the result in UK companies losing millions of pounds due to the increase in time it takes to commute and employees being unable to get into the office. For some companies, however, the hours of time wasted trying to commute into the office in bad weather could be transformed into productive time spent working from home with the obvious solution of allowing your employees to work remotely through unified communications, and hosted or cloud-based productivity tools, such as Office 365.

However, many organisations are still failing to provide any kind of remote working for employees. According to CBI data 41 per cent of UK companies are yet to implement any kind of remote working technology, from VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) to hosted or cloud applications. The only requirement for employees stuck at home is an internet connection allowing access to remote working tools.

Office 365 as a cloud or hosted solution allowing employees to collaborate, communicate, and share corporate data as if they were in the office. Likewise tools, such as Skype for Business, enable audio and video conferences, meaning that no-one has to miss a meeting even if they are stuck at home due to bad weather.

Many companies also consider security to be an issue when allowing remote access to corporate data. However, most hosted and cloud-based productivity solutions come with built-in security features which are often stronger than on-premise security protocols.

If you would like to find out about how collaboration and productivity services and solutions can not only help you to keep your company running productively and efficiently throughout Winter, but also throughout the rest of the year please visit www.aztechit.co.uk and please take care!
